Russia and Germany will continue to carry out big joint projects despite the global financial crisis. (Kremlin press statement - 14 Aug 09)
Russia and Germany plan to step up investment cooperation, Dmitry Medvedev said at a joint news conference with Federal Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel following bilateral talks.
Among strategic investment projects in the high-technology sector, Mr Medvedev noted investment in Infineon Technologies AG, the acquisition of Opel, and Russian investors’ plans to acquire docks on the Baltic coast. The President said that the authorities will follow closely private Russian investors’ participation in big projects in Germany.
Continued cooperation in the energy sector, in particular on the Nord Stream project, was another subject on the agenda at the talks.
Mr Medvedev and Ms Merkel also examined regional and international issues.
